Final Concept

An opening title sequence of a combination of slow-motion action sequences

that quickly goes back into ‘real time’, spliced in with snippets

of different motifs of the story by a constant zoom

through objects and characters.

Character Designs

For our character designs, we wanted them to have a flat,
semi-realistic look with stark black shadows so they’d seep
into the black backgrounds of the animation.

Color Palette

The colour palette we have chosen is a mix of bright neon
colours that are used heavily throughout the game,

matched with more muted tones.

Music

We’ve chosen these songs as they are iconic pieces

within the Hotline Miami games.

All these songs also have very distinct, aggressive, fast-paced,
techno, electronic sounds which we felt would go well
with a face-paced opening sequence.

The song that we’re more focused on, and that we’ve
used in the animatic, is Roller Mobster by Carpenter Brut.

The reason we’ve chosen this song  particularly and not
the others is because of Roller Mobster has a slow build up at
the start, and then crashes into a high-speed rhythm that

we felt we could use to ease the audience into the

opening title sequence.
